Dr. Elizabeth Celi
Clinical Psychologist, PhD, MAPS
Having trouble sleeping, concentrating, can’t find the worry off-switch? Are difficult experiences intruding into your thoughts, feel like you’re always on alert & jumping out of your skin? Difficult experiences and traumas can keep some memories “frozen” or “stuck” in your memory banks, making it harder to process information and regulate your emotions. The shock and overwhelm of these experiences can all too often be overlooked, limiting your mental health and how much joy you can experience. You don’t have to struggle that way.
Dr. Elizabeth Celi has worked as a psychologist in private practice since 2003 and is an accredited EMDR trauma clinician. She incorporates EMDR with other trauma-oriented and regular psychological therapies, to help clients reduce symptoms of trauma, shock, depression, anxiety, stress, chronic pain and complicated grieving.
Where appropriate, Elizabeth also applies the Safe and Sound audio therapy protocol to regulate and soothe the nervous system. This assists with symptoms of trauma, chronic stress and digestive ailments as each impact the nervous system and its ability to regulate and soothe.
Having published two books, done media and public health advocacy in men’s mental health until 2015, Elizabeth and colleagues in the USA, Canada and UK published four qualitative research papers (one in review). Elizabeth now focuses her psychological work on trauma-related issues for both men and women, for recent as well as long-standing difficult or traumatic experiences.
Combined, Elizabeth takes a holistic approach to ensure the brain, body and mind reintegrate toward better mental health. It can be nerve wracking to book your first appointment. It can also be a relief when you’ve struggled for some time and then have a way forward with attentive professional care.
Dr. Elizabeth Celi sees clients with Mental Health Care Plan referrals, with private health or private paying. You do not need a referral to book in with her. Please be aware, if you require psychological therapy as part of WorkCover, NDIS or any other 3rd party organization, Elizabeth is not the appropriate psychologist for you. She would be happy to provide you with recommendations to psychologists who do work with 3rd party organizations. Elizabeth provides professional psychological services for therapeutic purposes only.
